December Sports Events in Dubai

World Air GamesDubai will be busy with a number of local and international sports events.

Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) will hold the World Air Games from December 1 to 12. It is a premier international air sports event covering various disciplines mastered by the world’s top air sports athletes. Spectators will be bewildered by 10 sub-events, namely:

  1. aerobatics,
  2. aeromodelling,
  3. astronautics records,
  4. general aviation,
  5. ballooning,
  6. gliding,
  7. hang-gliding,
  8. parachuting,
  9. microlights, and
  10. rotorcraft

The event is organized by the Emirates Aerosports Federation. Previous editions were held in Turkey (1997), Spain (2001), and Italy (2009).
From December 2 to 4, gravity defying stunts will be showcased by XDubai in partnership with the Dubai World Trade Centre. Fearless riders will show awesome stunts using BMX, motor, quad and buggy vehicles. Watch your breath as they fly into the air and pull off tricks and stunts with pyrotechnics and lights backdrops plus live DJ sounds. Get into the action and be there in this show dubbed Masters of Dirt.


The Sevens Stadium will host Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens on December 3 to 5 with 220 teams competing. This event is the second edition of the nine-leg HSBC Sevens Series. The event also hosts the first round of the IRB Women’s Sevens World Series. They will also feature the women’s invitation Dubai Netball Tournament which will be a first during the Rugby Sevens.

Also on December 3 to 5 will be the Middle East Extreme Sports Expo at the Dubai International Marine Club. The expo will showcase the latest products and services on a global scale in the extreme sports and adventure travel industries. Daily raffles will also take place and anyone can have the chance to win extreme sports equipment, free trips, outdoor gear and apparel, and more.

Another XDubai event on December 3-5, the Flyboard World Cup features the best international flyboarders in a competition at Skydive Dubai The Palm. UAE residents may also join a separate earlier competition on December 3, where the winner and runner-up will get a wild card to compete in the World Cup on December 5.

The International Premier Tennis League is back in Dubai on December 16 to 17. The world’s famous tennis stars and Grand Slam champions are brought together to compete at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. The event is also set to visit Kobe on December 2 to 4; Manila on December 6 to 8; New Delhi on December 10 to 12; and Singapore on December 18 to 20.
